JULIAN ZIMMERMANN belongs to a young generation of natural trumpeters who have specialised in playing authentic copies of instruments. His stage work is characterised by the choice to use only historically documented instruments. The focus is on natural instruments that dispense with modern hole systems.
In recent years Julian Zimmermann has performed with various orchestras such as La Petite Bande, Ensemble Correspondances, Gabrieli Consort, Bremer Barockorchester, Neue Hofkapelle Graz and A nocte Temporis. As part of his concert activities, he has played under Sigiswald Kujken, Hervé Niquet, Sébastien Daucé, Reinoud van Mechelen, Jos van Immersel and Paul McCreesh.
In addition to his work with renowned baroque ensembles, he is particularly interested in fresh experimental projects that enable creative work with early music.
Julian Zimmermann studied modern trumpet at the Bern University of the Arts with Marc Ullrich and Markus Würsch. After graduating with a degree in modern trumpet, he studied natural trumpet with Jean-François Madeuf at the Schola Cantorum Basilensis.
